Abstract
More than 40 years’ experience in fisheries, seafood safety, and environmental management with a particular focus on the effectiveness of environmental management measures and risk management with Fisheries and Oceans Canada, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. Guest scientist at the Coastal Research Institute at Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht in Germany involved in marine planning and environmental management. Co-chair of the ICES Work Group for Cumulative Effects Assessments in Management. Member of the ICES Work Group on Marine Planning and Coastal Zone Management. Member of the Group of Experts on Risk Management in Regulatory Systems of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe. Conducts research activities and lectures in Canada, the United States, and Europe.
