PIM at Euro PM2014: Magnesium powder injection moulding for biomedical application

Abstract

A keynote paper at the Euro PM2014 congress presented by Martin Wolff, Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht GmbH, Germany, discussed the viability of processing medical implants from magnesium alloys by Powder Injection Moulding. Magnesium is of particular interest for medical implant applications thanks to, amongst other things, its excellent biodegradability and biocompatibility.
