Abstract
In this article, special attention is drawn to magnesium-based metal matrix composites (MMCs). The first part reviews the conventional and the newer processing techniques appropriate for the fabrication of magnesium matrix composites. These routes are divided into liquid- and solid-state fabrication, in situ, and spray forming methods. After introducing the matrix and its properties, reinforcements are described (continuous and discontinuous) and the obtained composites are discussed. The interface is also described. Finally, recent applications, such as medical purpose, are reported.
