Programme Planning and Controlling
The introduction of programme-oriented funding at the Helmholtz Association lead to an extensive transfer of planning and controlling responsibilities to the Helmholtz centres.
The entire process of programme-oriented funding is supported by science-oriented controlling procedures. The controlling processes extend from the programme planning phase and analysis of a project’s progress to reporting on the development of Helmholtz research programmes.
Tasks / scope of activities
The Programme Planning and Controlling staff department supports the management of the Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon in performing the following tasks:
- developing Helmholtz research programmes,
- creating the annual research and development programme,
- drawing up reports to the Helmholtz Senate and the funding bodies regarding progress made by the research programmes,
- auditing Helmholtz programmes,
- auditing the Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon research projects,
- monitoring relevant key figures,
- making strategic decisions regarding the focus of the research programme.
